  You make it sound like scientists first dreamed up a fantasy concept out of thin air, then started theorizing around that fantasy concept.

  Just going off topic a little, to a degree that statement is true. For example, the ‘electro motive force’ that is generated from an alternator is based on the theory of conductors cutting magnetic ‘lines of force’. From this much of the theory of electrical interaction is based on and held as factual. Trouble is there is no such thing as a ‘line of force’. It was a miss observation that lead to the theory, being that it is indeed fantasy.

  The interactions of space are based on gravitational theory. When observations don’t comply with such theory, such things as the theory of ‘dark matter’ and ‘dark energy’ have to be plucked out of thin air to prove the theory and make the models work. Problems happen when those new inventions are contradicted. Then more is added and you now end up with cosmology more of a philosophical debate rather than a scientific.

  Too much romanticising and hypothesis and not enough proof. Lets not even talk about Multiversal theory

  Black holes were invented because gravitational models proved erroneous.

  Dark energy is a similar invention. The theory of gravity needs a total re-examination.

  Not a great believer of black holes. Much controversy over the theory. Same as "dark energy".

  Theory of gravity has huge holes and seriously needs revision.

  a very bad "groan" joke....... there was a painter named wayne who was very interested in making a penny where he could, so he often thinned down his paint to make it go a wee bit further.. .

  as it happened, he got away with this for some time, but eventually the local baptists decided to do a big restoration job on the outside of their large church building.. .

  wayne put in a bid, and, because his price was reasonable, he got the job.

  I think that moving on is relative and subject to definition. Some things can be overcome, but some things are going to have a profound effect on you and mould you to some extent, which is not necessarily a bad thing, although sometimes it can be.

  I think that moving on is learning to cope with those chinks in you, and having the ability and strength to continue and maintain balance in yourself…..Not allowing the knocks to consume you……

  while i was sitting one night with a poet friend watching a great opera performed in a tent under arc lights, the poet took my arm and pointed silently.

  Whats wrong with obeying God?

  many who post here are always talking about they don't need god and that they don't believe in god and that he dosen't exist.

  god does not ask us to do unreasonable things.

  most of the things he ask us to do protects our lives.. why don't people get that?

  Ok, I’ll explain why I don’t think that following god is a good thing (presuming that we are talking about the god of the bible and not the more ‘obscure’ god’s that there are around).

  To examine god we can only go by the bible. And this is where god fails miserably. The old testament is where I would go to in order to answer this question. Lets take a look at some of the things that went on back then, and see if it would have been good to follow god….

  He asked the Israelites to clear out the land of Canaan, something that was going to be quite a traumatic thing for a human to do. When you consider the mental repercussions of war, there is a lot of suffering for the people who engaged in warfare. This is not to be underestimated.

  But then, take a look at what god was asking of the fighting men back then. They were to storm a city, and in some cases, they were to kill everything that moved, man ,woman and child. Think of the scene that comes from that fact. You burst into a room, there are the parents huddling in fear protecting the new born baby that they have just had. You kill the father, the mother then screams out because of the murder of her husband, so then you take your sword to her, and the blood that splatters from her falls onto her new born baby that has just dropped out of her dying arms. Now the baby is laying on the floor, crying because of the commotion, defenceless, the fighting man then takes his spear and runs it through. The baby writhes in pain, wriggling vehemently as he stabs it through again, now the baby is coughing up blood as it screams and hangs onto its last dying breath. Finally it goes limp. God’s will has been done.......

  Can you imagine the emotional consequences of such horror…..?? And that is what I think I would say was wrong with obeying god…

  I held a new born baby the other day. 6 pounds and 1 ounce. Can’t tell you how that felt. Amazing. Could I obey god, and kill it…….??

  I can’t believe it. The bloke is such a pratt. How the hell did he beat "Red" Ken. I know that people were a little tired of him, but at least you could take him seriously. This guy is a joke. They said on the radio that it was close…..

  Does this mean that he won’t host "have I got news for you" anymore? That would be a shame.When you see him on that, you know how much of a joke he is.

  I’m sure that he will lend some entertainment during his term, but this kind of thing is the reason why I don’t even think about looking at politics.

  Maybe there is a chance for Conservative next election. I can’t stand Brown. Scottish git…….
